King’s Wood lies in the heart of East Kent, near to Canterbury, Ashford and Faversham. It is readily accessible by main roads and visitors are welcome throughout the year.

Please note that the Car Park is NOT next to the office. Separate instructions are given below to the Car Park and the Office.
From Ashford M20 Jct 9- Take the A28 to Canterbury and then the A251 to Faversham.
- Stay on the A251 and go through the villages of Kennington and Boughton Aluph, you will then drive through the countryside for a couple of miles and then come into Challock.
- Just before you come to the first houses in Challock (if you reach ‘Victoriana Nursery Gardens’ on your left then you have gone too far), take a right hand turn to Wye. Follow this road for approx 1/3 mile and you will see the forest car park on your left.
- Take the A28 to Ashford
- Then at Chilham take the A252 to Charing/Maidstone
- When you come to the Challock roundabout, turn left onto the A251 towards Ashford.
- Stay on this road until you reach a left hand turn to Wye (approx 1/4 mile).
- Follow the road to Wye for approx 1/3 mile and you will see the forest car park on your left.
- Take Junction 6, (A251) to Ashford.
- You will come to the Challock roundabout, continue straight ahead staying on the A251.
- Stay on this road until you reach a left hand turn to Wye (approx 1/4 mile).
- Follow the road to Wye for approx 1/3 mile and you will see the forest
car park on your left.
By Train:
The nearest stations are Chilham, Charing and Wye. The nearest mainline stations are Ashford, Faversham and Canterbury.

We welcome disabled visitors and can provide advice to make your visit more enjoyable. The terrain of the forest can be quite challenging, making access to the sculptures difficult. We are in partnership with DADA South East to establish working relationships with disabled artists.
From Ashford M20 Jct 9
- Take the A28 to Canterbury and then the A251 to Faversham.
- Stay on the A251 and go through the villages of Kennington and Boughton Aluph, you will then drive through the countryside for a couple of miles and then come into Challock.
- As you come into Challock you will pass on your left ‘Victoriana Nursery Gardens’ and then a red post box on your right.
- Turn right down the driveway straight after the post box. (If you reach Tollgate Cottage on the left hand side then you have gone too far).
- Proceed down the drive, past the white house (often has Colin Batt lorries parked outside) on your left, to the wooden forest office in front of you
- Please park in front of the office, avoiding the small outbuildings.
- Take the A28 to Ashford
- Then at Chilham take the A252 to Charing/Maidstone
- When you come to the Challock roundabout, turn left onto the A251 towards Ashford, we are approx a 1/4-mile down the road.
- After two white cottages, you will see Tollgate Cottage on your right hand side. Slow down here. On the left is a 40mph sign on a post and then a long straight hedge - the turning to SVA is on the left immediately after the hedge, but before the red post box further up on the left.
- Proceed down the drive, past the white house (often has Colin Batt lorries parked outside) on your left, to the wooden forest office in front of you.
From Whitstable/Faversham M2
- Take Junction 6, (A251) to Ashford.
- You will come to the Challock roundabout, continue straight ahead staying on the A251 to Ashford. We are approx 1/4-mile from the roundabout.
